Seabeck Weekend Meditation Retreat
March 22 – 24, 2024
Come spend a weekend devoted to “practicing presence”, buoyed by supportive community, and enlivened by the beauty of nature.
Our time together centers around formal sessions of sitting and walking meditation. We maintain mindful silence throughout the day, with the exception of a social period around dinner time and a structured discussion Saturday evening. See our schedule for more details.
Is this retreat right for you? You do not need to be an athlete. Our approach is gentle, and many of our members have some physical limitation. However, our sitting practice is a discipline — of keeping upright silent stillness — a shared effort of mutual support. A spirit of cooperation at maintaining that discipline is key. Those who have some experience with meditation are better prepared to get the full benefit of participating.
The core participants in this retreat are members of the Saltwater UU and Star Island meditation communities, along with kindred spirits from around the Northwest and beyond. Newcomers are definitely welcome. Contact Rev. David Scheuneman for more information about our practice. For more about the facilities, see Seabeck Conference Center.
